Top Summer Activities Near Singer Island, Florida

Singer Island, Florida is part of the city of Riviera Beach. It’s actually a peninsula attached to the mainland, but most of it’s surrounded by water, giving it an island feel. Named after Paris Singer, a property developer and a son of the man who founded the Singer Sewing Machine Company, Singer Island is a popular area to enjoy incredible ocean views and activities. There’s something for everyone to do.

Beaches
Ocean Reef Park on Singer Island has saltwater fishing, picnicking facilities, a playground and of course a beach. Leashed dogs are allowed in the park, but not on the beach. Peanut Island is close by, but you’ll need a boat to access the beach, making it a nice getaway and a good destination if you rent a boat. The MacArthur Beach State Park is just north of Singer Island in West Palm Beach and is where you can look at sea turtles, picnic, and enjoy nature.

Water Sports
Since Singer Island is surrounded by warm water, you’d better believe there are plenty of aquatic activities to partake in. At GetWet Watersports, you can rent a boat (sailboat or motor), jet ski, surfboard, or paddleboard. They also offer wakeboarding, boat tubing, flyboarding, and snorkeling adventures. There are plenty of opportunities to scuba dive and enjoy looking at all the tropical fish or even go on special excursions to see whale sharks or dive at night; lessons are available if needed. Rent a kayak at the Singer Island Outdoor Center and either join a tour or venture out for a leisurely paddle on your own.

Restaurants

Singer Island and Riviera Beach are home to many different eateries. Allora Pizza is a local longtime favorite, with traditional, deep dish, and gluten-free pizza options. RJ’s Caribbean Cuisine is so old school and authentic, they have no website, but that doesn’t stop them from getting tons of rave reviews. The most recommended meals are the oxtail and jerk chicken, but they also have curry chicken and slow brown chicken.
The Islander Grill and Tiki Bar has a beautiful location right on the beach, with tropical cocktails and a full menu. This is a great place to relax with a drink, or host a party.

Nightlife
Most places on Singer Island close at 11 pm, but the Seaside Bar and Grill stays open until 2 am, with varying live music or a DJ. The unusually named Two Drunken Goats is where to go to listen to live music of all types. They also serve American-style breakfast, lunch and dinner, with plenty of seafood thrown in. The name came from the story of a Prohibition-era moonshine distiller named McCoy. He kept his operation hidden behind a livestock barn, where some goats kept getting into it. Hence “two drunken goats” became the codeword for folks looking for a good time.

Family Activities
The Singer Island area also has a ton of stuff to interest kids. Manatee Lagoon in West Palm Beach is an FPL Eco-Discovery Center that offers free admission, a variety of kid programs including story time and camps, and of course manatees galore. They also sell refreshments there so you can spend an extended period of time enjoying the facility. City Place, a mall in West Palm Beach, is where locals go to catch a movie and shop. There are even nail salons that offer mani-pedis just for kids. Seven miles away in Juno Beach is the Loggerhead Marine Life Center. This place focuses primarily on sea turtles, with daily tours and kid-oriented educational programs, but they also have tropical fish and other local fauna.

Camping
Camping is available on Peanut Island, the small island between the lower portion of Singer Island and Riviera Beach. Campsites are available for a reasonable fee; call for reservations. If you’re interested in venturing further out, there’s a lot of other camping in Florida, including the Everglades. Singer Island is a place to leave the fast-paced world behind and spend time with your loved ones. Whether you enjoy thrill-seeking water sports or just want to hang out on the beach, it’s easy to find something to enjoy.
